Project Description: This project has been implemented, since January 2011, under the second phase of the relief campaign. It aims to provide aid to victims of floods in Pakistan (recovery phase). The constructed shelter is either a built room, or a renovated house. In addition, a water filter (safe drinking water) is provided for families affected by floods.
- 1000 residential units were completed by the beginning of April 2011, under the supervision of Qatar Charity Office in Islamabad. The completion of the remaining housing units of this project will be accomplished by the end of 2011.
- Qatar Charity mobilised local communities, and achieved their participatory involvement in the construction of residential units; where affected families were given the design, building materials and other needs, and were allowed to add what they deemed appropriate for their daily needs, provided they abide by the minimum requirements agreed upon between all parties.
- This approach has been satisfactory to the beneficiaries, and was commended by local and international organisations.
