Qatar Charity (QC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) signed yesterday a partnership and co-operation agreement to provide aid to Myanmar Muslims in Rakhine state.

Under this agreement QC will donate $2mn (QR 7,300,000) for the benefit of 10,000 displaced people. The QC grant is part of UNHCR relief aid valued at $17mn for the implementation of shelter projects. The agreement was signed by Imran Rida, UNHCR regional representative to the GCC, and Yusuf Bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, CEO of QC.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation signed yesterday a co-operation agreement with Qatar Charity (QC) targeting the eradication of polio in Pakistan in an effort to attain a polio-free world.

Qatar Charity has honoured 70 orphans in its annual Kosova festival.

The event was held in the presence of over 400 orphans and their families, and honoured the orphans for excellence in their studies.

Twenty winners of a Holy Quran competition and a cultural competition were also recognized, as well as a sports team who had won a cup for sporting excellence.
